Motion yay............

ok so this week in science we did a lot with graphs and motion diagrams. yes, motion diagrams. on monday we realized that dot diagrams were unreliable and they could display the wrong messgage. they could be going one way and not represent the right thing. so, we learned about motion diagrams. motion diagrams display velocity, direction, positive and negitives, adn more! how greattt.
on tuesday we leaned more about how to make a moition diagram and why they are better than dot diagrams.
okay so now on wednesday we drew motion diagrams for marbles rolkling down a hill. we also learned about path legth which is the distance that u travel. and we learned abuot displacemembt which corrisponds with velocity. on thursday and frieday we did wkrosheetyse

Motion 3 day week!

this week was a 3 day week! yay!
we did indexes on monday because a lot of poeple werent getting it. of course i was one of those that do get it! hehehe. o and we learned that velocity is a fancy word for speed.

ok so now its tuesday. yay only 2 days left :D
so today we did a lot of homework reveiw and we drew graphs amd stuff.
we discussed a lot within the classroom about the unit that were doing now and so we made sure everyone understood :D

yayyy wednesday its the last day of the week!
OK SO TODAY.... we did more with graphs and indexes. mr finley drew stuff ( by stuff i mean graphs) on the board so we did activities with that durning class. what a wonderful short weeK!

MoTiOn!i!i!i!

this week in science we made graphs! yay graphs!
on monday we cleared up the whole thing about movieng and people. since none of us understood, we do now!
on tuesday we did a lot online. we looked at the website and did like 4 worksheets on graphs and stuff. it helped understand more. we then finihed that for homework and more!
on wednesday we clarified the usage of trendlines and graphs. the trend lines do exactly what theyre called. they show the trends in the data. we also clasified the way that u draw graphs.
CONSTANT RATE- straight line, moving in one general direction, no curnve
SPEEDING UP- a curve in the line going up. not staaight.
SLOWING DOWN- rising and then a straight line.
NOT MOVNG- completely straight.
what a fun week!

Motion

This week in science we started a new unit. This unit is motion. We finally finished the light unit! On Monday, IT’S MY BRITHDAY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! OCTOBER 19TH!! YAY! We learned about the point of orientation. Mr. Finley walked around the room and we had to keep our telescopes on him. We realized he moved but he said that we moved. We told him he was wrong but he disagreed. We found out that depending on where you stand and what orientation you have, you see different things moving. Happy birthday to me:D
On Tuesday we dissected cow eyes. It was fun….
On Wednesday we learned about rates and directions. We leaned positives and negatives, and we learned how the math grid relates to motion. We also leaned our north, south, east, and west. Of coarse I didn’t know that!
On Thursday we did a lab about the rate of cars and if they have a constant rate or not. We figure out all the information and we made hypotheses, predictions, and experiment plans before we started. Oh and Mr. Finley was absent.
On Friday Mr. Finely was out again. We finished up our experiment and we took a quiz. Happy weekend!

Wrapping Up Light

Guess what happens this week!
Yup, u got it. TEST. O what a joy. Ok so we did a lot of fantastical things. Including studying and learning and so much fun stuff like that. You’re so jealous.

Ok so on Monday we did more reviewing of what we had learned. We talked more about particle models and wave models.

Then on Tuesday we got 4 different models on the board and we had to say what was wrong with them and grade them with our rubrics that we made on Monday night. We went over them and picked out the wrong and right things of them all. Then we learned how to draw diagrams correctly and we took notes on it.

For homework we had to do the first 6 sections of the study guide... fun.

After Tuesday came Wednesday, shocker. We did more with refraction and prisms. And we had to do the study guide for hw… again.

Thursday, day before the test. Wahoo! I went to the study session with mr.finley. yay bagels. It really helped me understand the concepts more so I am happy I went. In class did the prism thing where we found out how it refracted and stuff. We saw the reflections of the rprism and the refractions of the prism. It was pretty cool that we predicted exactly what happened.

Friday. Dreaded test.

Light Light Light! particle and waves

This week in science we did a lot of learning. On Monday we were all so tired :( but then we started science and it was like a splash of water on your face! ...kind of. Ok so on Monday we continued with what we started a little last Friday. We put the ruler inside of the beaker of water and observed. Yay observing! We noticed that the ruler appeared to be getting fatter from the side as it entered the water. And from the top of the jar it looked like the ruler was broken. It appeared to be bent although we know it was perfectly whole.
On October 6, 2009, which was a Tuesday, we learned about Huygens, and Newton. One had a particle model and one had a wave model. We made hypotheses using the particle model because we thought it was correct. We made a model where the light goes through the glass using a particle model.
On Wednesday we went in more depth on the whole wave model and particle model. We found out that the particle model isn’t correct but we use it when it works. The wave model is really the one that is correct. We found out how the stuff moves through light as well.
On Thursday we saw how waves work. We made a final hypothesis which was this. When light goes through a more dense material, it moves toward the normal. And when it goes through a less dense material, it moves away from the normal.
Friday- NO SCHOOL!

Light woohoo~

This week in science was really intense. We did so many experiments and exciting things it was crazy! Ok so we started off the week on Tuesday! Why Tuesday? Because of Yom Kippur! Go holidays! We did these huge experiments that were really important on Tuesday! They’re so important that we’re doing a whole entire lab report on them! Ok so it had to do with of course, light, and lasers! We found out the following ideas/ whatever you wanna call them! We learned that surfaces vary in their reflectivity, “shiny” surfaces reflect better, and that the colors that are not black show up brighter. I know what you’re thinking, oh my goodness that’s a lot of information for JUST a Tuesday! But wait, there’s more! Yes, more! Ok so we also came up with this theory that where you point the laser, the laser makes the angles change. What? Angles? Where did that come from? Well, you’ll find out tomorrow!
Oh my gosh it’s already tomorrow! Happy Wednesday! Ok so today we got more into the whole angles thing. Well first of all, last night’s homework was to write an experiment for measuring the angle of a laser bouncing off of a mirror. Now let’s name the angles, for now let’s go with angle A and angle B. that works for you right? We came up with a hypothesis. Wanna hear it? Ok! Well angle A and angle B should always be the same. It’s brilliant! Absolutely wonderful! So the way we tested this is we experimented. A turn out our hypothesis was correct! The experimenting took over Thursday and on Friday we just reviewed and stuffs! K that’s my blog 4 this week! Peace out bloggers!
